Un grupo de piratas dirigidos por Alvida atraca un barco, donde encuentran un barril que contiene a un muchacho extraño llamado Luffy. Luffy está buscando el tesoro legendario One Piece y él traba amistad con el grumete del barco, Coby, que en realidad quiere alistarse en la marina. Luffy derrota Alvida y junto a Coby se embarca a la aventura.
